God forbid, Agbu should continue from where Ishaku stopped – Ex-Taraba Assembly speaker
By Terna Chikpa, Jalingo
A two-term former Speaker of Taraba State House Assembly, Abel Peter Diah, has rebuked Governor Darius Ishaku, for his recent speech where he urged the Governor-elect, Col. Kefas Agbu, to emulate his style of governance, build on his existing foundation for more development.
Diah while interacting with journalists in his residence on Wednesday in Jalingo, rebuked that, “God forbid, Agbu should continue from where governor Darius Ishaku stop or emulate his styles of governance.” According to the former speaker, Tarabans would all die and there would be no one to govern over or provide development for.
While appreciating his constituents for re-electing him into the state assembly for the sixth time, Diah advised the governor-elect to end the disunity amongst citizens that has taken the state backward in all ramifications.
“God forbid, Agbu should continue from where governor Darius Ishaku stop or emulate his leadership styles. Tarabans would all die and there would be no one to govern over or provide development for.
“I am a APC member but all I wish is the development of Taraba so, I want to advise the governor-elect, Col. Kefas Agbu not to emulate governor Ishaku’s style of governance because the state would collapse and the citizens will all die. I want to see a state where if you are ask to introduce yourself, you will forget every other things like religion or ethnicity and simply say, I am a Taraban. The disunity amongst citizens in the name of religion and ethnicity in the last eight years has brought us nothing but total underdevelopment and i believe that uniting the people would bring Taraba back as a working state.
“I believe that God does not make mistake, and I want to still believe that the choice of Agbu as governor of Taraba this time around is not a mistake. I want to appeal to every Tarabans who contested with Agbu to support him to succeed because the whole aim is to ensure optimal development of Taraba state.
“The background of the governor-elect as a military officer is convincing enough to believe that he would do well for the state. I want him to listen to developmental advise, the leadership styles of governor Darius Ishaku is not something to emulate because the people will all die and Taraba would be history.
“The governor has failed the people and the state is at the point of collapsing. No working institution is functioning again so, God forbid, Agbu should continue from where governor Darius Ishaku stopped or emulate his leadership styles,” Diah rebuked.
