Gombe Assembly: Lone woman member loses seat as APC gets 20, PDP four

Lone woman member in Gombe State House of Assembly Asma’u Ignanus, of the All Progressives Congress, has lost her re-election bid, with APC retaining its dominance with 20 members.
She represents Shongom constituency in the State House of Assembly, with Ignanus’ current defeat Gombe Assembly has no woman representation.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that Ignanus was chairman House Committee on Women Affairs.
Our correspondent reports that Gombe State House of Assembly consists of 24 members representing 11 Local Government Areas.
Ignanus, was an erstwhile Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, however, defected to the APC after winning her election in 2019, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to a list, made available by Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday, Ignanus, lost her seat to Ayala Pilate of the PDP.
From the list PDP, cleared two seats in Billiri LGA, got a seat in Kaltungo West and another seat in Shongom LGA, leaving the entire 20 for the governing APC
Opposition PDP, lost it position to the New Nigeria Peoples Party in the outgoing House of Assembly when some of its former members and those from APC defected.
