Gombe NSCDC Commandant Visits INEC REC, Assures Adequate Protection
Ahead of the Gubernatorial and State House Assembly Elections, Commandant Achir Abraham, State Commandant Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps Gombe State Command has pledged to support the process to free, credible, polls.
Abraham made promise when he visited the Gombe State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ibrahim Umar.
The Commandant who recently took over from Baba Goni, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Commandant General of Corps, visited the State secretariat of INEC as part of his familiarisation engagements.
According to him, “The visit was necessitated by the fact that i just took over from the outgoing Commandant whom was promoted to the rank ACG, hence, the need to familiarise with the Commission because NSCDC is a critical stakeholder.”
Recall that NSCDC is a member of InterAgency Consultative Committee On Election Security, as far as the electoral security is concerned as provided for by the electoral Act 2022.
Abraham promised adequate protection of the electoral process before, during and after elections.
Responding, the REC Umar appreciated the Commandant’s visit which he described as timely. He equally lauded NSCDC’s role in safeguarding, INEC, it’s staff and facilities.
