Pictorial: Shocking How Authorities Abandoned Multi-million Naira Police Clinic In Gombe
By Ben Ngwakwe, Gombe
A proposed Multi-million naira police clinic has been abandoned in Gombe State, and it has been turned into dumping ground of garbage.

The police clinic located in police barracks in Gombe which was constructed between 2014/2025 has been left unattended to by police authorities in headquarters Abuja.
All efforts to complete the clinic and constant appeals and requests from various senior police officers and commissioners of Police in state turned deaf ears.
Investigation gathered revealed that both those who served and continue serving from Gombe State police command have appealed to relevant authorities, at the time of filing this report, was yet to produce tangible results.
The huge investment has been left to rot despite huge amount of money spent by police authorities on medical needs of their personnel.
The edifice has turned into a dumping ground of garbage by the residents of the area and other users of the abandoned Clinic.

The abandoned police clinic that would have served the medical needs of the police personnel, their wives, children, dependants and the immediate environment is an eye sore and a bad precedent to the Inspector – General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali who is billed to retire from police service after serving for 35 years of meritorious service to the nation soon.
Our correspondent reports that when the issue of abandoned project in Gombe State Command was mentioned to Nigerian Police Trust Fund Project Intervention in 2021, they swiftly said that the Committee didn’t even know the contractors who handled the project nor knew how much the project was awarded and the plans of the said clinic, adding that it was not part of their assignments.
They specifically told bewildered police personnel in Gombe State that their intervention only covered renovation and rehabilitation of the police barracks and not the clinic.
The Police Commissioner, CP Oqua Etim declined to comment on the issue of the abandoned Clinic but investigation gathered from police command explained that the police personnel at different times made several moves to police headquarters in Abuja over the abandoned Clinic but no positive action was taken regarding completing the said project.
Residents of the area who spoke to our Correspondent appealed to the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali, to as a matter of urgency complete the project, stressing that the abandoned Clinic would equally serve the needs of the residents as well as the police personnel in the area.
