10th NASS Leadership: Betara APC’s best option for Speaker – NYSGB
….says Tinubu/Kashim-led administration to benefit from robust legislation
The National Youth Support Group for Betara has canvassed support for House of Representatives member Mukhtar Aliyu Betara, as Speaker in the 10th National Assembly.
Betara represents Biu/Kwaya Kusar/Bayo and Shani Federal Constituency of Borno State.
NYSGB in a statement made available to our correspondent said Betara remained the best choice for speaker, adding that he has got the needed leadership acumen to support the Tinubu/Shettima-led administration having served in the House for about 16 years.
NYSGB’s statement which was signed by the National President Balkisu Tijjani-Mahmood, and Vice President Nafi’u Muhammad Anwar, said Betara has exhibited the needed competency, capacity and strength to ensure development in the green chamber upon inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.
The statement said, “Rt. Hon Mukhtar Betara Aliyu has been in the green chamber for roughly 16 years since 2007 and has done exceptionally, competently well ever since, that has not only earned him the love of his constituents but also caused him to achieve the recognition he has attained over the years.
He ensured the construction of 20 health care centres, and provided 10 ambulances, he has built a sports stadium he has constructed roads and drainages he’s installed more than 10,000 solar-powered street lights in his constituency he has allocated his personal resources to fund transplant surgeries and empowered individuals for business and supported local families in his constituency.
“Hon Mukhtar Betara Aliyu is the first person to to be re-elected four times consecutively since first emergence in the history of his constituency and has served in the sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth assembly, he then chaired sub-committee on NDIC, Banking and Currency he has served as a member of the house committee on interior subsequently, then chaired sub-committee on customs, immigration, and prison pension office (CIPPO), he proceeded on to chair house committee on the Army then chaired house committee on defence then again chaired house committee on appropriation.
“His achievements and credentials without a doubt are selling him as the true nationalist that he is, even more so enough to acquire him the party’s endorsement to lead the green chamber without regard to zoning.”
While commenting on the leadership strides of Betara, NYSGB noted that he has required skills to support his kinsman Kashim Shettima, in the green chamber which would hasten development in the country.
“Hon Mukhtar Aliyu Betara is our own golden boy, of course with his Excellency Kashim Shettima two golden boys can co-exist, his chairing of the committees he has chaired and his being incumbent on Appropriation NYSGB must say have readied and prepared him for the speakership race, NYSGB for one just like many others is a believer in Hon Muktar Betara Aliyu’s proficiency to make a great speaker, he has an impeccable track record of excellence to substantiate that,” NYSGB added.
While enumerating the recognitions of Betara following his efforts in providing representational leadership, NYSGB added, “Democracy Hero’s Award for Best Performing Rep Member of the year, 2020.
“Award of Excellence by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), North-East Zone, 2013. He is also a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management.
“Award Order of Niger OON, By President Muhammadu Buhari.”
