Adamawa: Association Trains Youths, Women on Agriculture, Entrepreneurship Skills

The Chamba Cultural Development Association, has trained no fewer than 100 youths, women and less privileged people on agric business and entrepreneurship skills acquisition for poverty alleviation.

The Acquisition programme

Speaking at the inauguration of the one-day programme on Wednesday in Ganye, Mr Polycarp Kaigama, the National President of the association, said the objective is to kickstart the economic aspect of development in the area and foster unity.

He said the empowerment would help promote self-reliance and job creation as white collar jobs are no longer available.

According to him, Chamba people and their land have no reason to suffer of economic backwardness.

He added that at the end the participants would be empowered to be able to apply the skills to practice.

Kaigama called on the participants to actively participate and understand the objective of the programme for them to succeed in life.

Alhaji Ahmad Abbas, a retired Director, National Orientation Agency, and Zonal Vice President of the association, described Ganye as the food basket for not only Adamawa but Nigeria as a whole.

He appreciated retired Gen. TY Danjuma for supporting the programme aimed at impacting positively on the lives of people in the area.

He advised participants to understand that such a programme would impact on their lives if put in to practice.

In his remarks, the paramount ruler of Ganye Chiefdom, Dr Umaru Sanda, appreciated the effort of the association for impacting positively on the livelihood of people in the area.

The first class traditional ruler, who was represented by Chief Robins Yohanna, said that the programme came at the right time as white collar jobs are no longer available, urging participants to take the advantage to succeed in life.

Mr Muhammad Lajenson, who spoke on behalf of the participants, thanked the association for the programme.

He assured that they would remain grateful and apply the knowledge acquired in to practice.

The Chamba belt is made up of Ganye, Jada, Toungo as well as some parts of Fufore and Mayo-Belwa Local Government Areas of Adamawa.

Other areas are located in Taraba state, incuding Dakka, Bali, Takum, Gashaka, Donga, Wukari, Kashimbila, Chanchagi other areas
