Men of impeccable track record are not many but the few that exists are worthy of immense commendation. So, is the representative of Bayo/Kwaya-kusar/Shani Federal Constituency of Borno State, Hon. Muktar Betara Aliyu, a politician with sterling mark of difference.
Many political pundits have expressed surprise that even as hope seems lost in the quality of representation in the country someone has dared to provide a remarkable leadership to his people.

No wonder, Emir of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State; Alhaji Mustache Umar Mustapha Aliyu, described the lawmaker as a man of integrity, “with a humble spirit, a leader with sacrificial heart, and also dedicated in everything he does.”
The revered monarch lauded Betara for his outstanding performance in representing his constituents, stressing that aside politics the lawmaker has always derived joy in philanthropy.
According to the Emir, “history has showed that amongst those that represented his constituency, no leader has done his kind of developmental project across his constituency.”
Aliyu, while answering questions from journalists in his palace said, Hon. Betara’s lifestyle is worthy of emulation considering his effort in alleviating poverty amongst the members of his constituency.
He explained that Aliyu’s gesture cuts across empowerment with skill acquisition in order for numerous youths to be self reliant in the society.
The Emir said all the nooks and crannies of the lawmaker’s constituency have experienced dividends of democracy and in almost all the sectors which include; Education, Health, Security, Agriculture among others.
He added, “the member is a hard working man even before he joined politics and he loves carrying his people along in everything he does.”
That Betara, aspires for the top job as Speaker in the 10th National Assembly is not a surprise to many of his constituents. As Gombe State is far from his constituency his impact resounds for doubting Thomases to hear, see and talk about.
Some may have opined that the fact that he shares Borno State with the Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, may be a tall order for his aspiration as the state is just one in 36 others. A position Ahmed Kumo, of the North-East Youth Coalition punctured saying competence, experience should matter most.
However, you look at it Betara, seems prepared, endowed and empowered to clinch the top job in the green chamber, having transversed the Army, Defence, Appropriation committees of the House in 16 unbroken years of impeccable service.
Whether Betara or not let the best man win!!!
