Easter: Taraba FRSC sensitises commuters on safety tips

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Taraba State command on Saturday said, it has embarked on aggressive sensitisation at strategic locations within Jalingo metropolis to abreast commuters with basic safety measures during the Easter period.

Corps Commander Selina William, Sector commander, explained in a statement issued to Journalists in Jalingo said Easter, just like other festive periods is characterised by high vehicular movements on the highway as most Christians travel to re-unite with their loved ones and their was need to sensitise commuter on safety tips.

According to William, the decision was to avert the possibility of road crashes and ensure free flow of traffic in Taraba State.
The statement also disclosed that a special patrol slated between 6-12 April. 2023, aimed at ensuring free flow of traffic as well as prompt rescue services has been put in place just as the
Command has deployed seven operational vehicles, two ambulances and over 250 personnel across the state for corps visibility.
It’s also noted that the sensitisation was conducted at various strategic parks and markets within the metropolis including, Mayo Gwoi market with clearance operations of traders, causing congestion on the highway and evacuation of illegal motor parks from the road shoulders.
“Taraba State Sector Commander, in company of Officers and men of the command addressed members of NURTW on critical offences such as overloading, speed limit violation, use of phone while driving, use of worn out tyres, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, drivers license violation among others were meticulously highlighted. The drivers were also intimated on FRSC CM’s decision to prosecute drivers who cause RTC in Court of competent jurisdiction as passengers life insurance is now guaranteed,” The statement read.
