Pictorial: Gombe FA fixes June 10 for General Assembly, Elective Congress

The Gombe State Football Association has proposed 10th of June, 2023 as scheduled date to hold its elective congress.


It made the proposal in its resolution during Tuesday’s General Assembly held at the FA’s office at the Pantami stadium complex, where Football stakeholders across the state including affiliated bodies with the FA attended the congress. Some of them include; Coaches Association, Referees Association, NPFL Clubs Association, Nationwide League Forum, State League Forum, etc.

FA Chairman; Filibus Sarma, lauded all football stakeholders in the state for their supports, charging the newly elected members to be good ambassadors, “come up with new innovations that will help in developing football in the state and i promise to support whatever programme you come up with,” he said.
Sarma, while appealing to stakeholders advised them to unite for the progress of soccer, “I’m calling on the various stakeholders to unite with the aim of promoting football.”
Our correspondent reports that before the Congress started, newly elected Local Football Council executives were inaugurated and presented with their certificates.
On his part, Ibrahim Gimba, the Chairman Electoral Committee of the council elections, commended the FA for the opportunity and advised the new executives to take advantage of the election, adding “in order to develop football from the grassroot as our tenure expires in the next 2 years.”
The Congress also approved the nomination of Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Maina, Barrister Robert Obida, Malam Seyoji Mohammed kumo,
Ishaya Usman, and Alhaji Shuaibu Saidu Sarkin Kaji, as members of electoral committee.
It further constituted Malam Ibrahim Majidai and Danladi Yahaya as reserve.
On the appeal committee the members include; Barr.Caleb Ubale, Barrister Yau Hussani, and Malam Shamsudeen Balarabe.
While Malam Saidu Idi Batari, and
Malam Inde Mohammed Fawu, are reserved for the appeal committee.
Recall that on Monday, Convener, Gombe State Sports and Football Stakeholders Forum Ahmed Shuaibu-Gara Gombe, warned against Tuesday’s alleged poll, urging the FA’s leadership to follow basic statutes as recommended by regulatory bodies.
