Police nab 21 suspects in Gombe over burglary, possession of weapons, others

Gombe State Police command on Wednesday paraded no fewer than 21 suspects over burglary, possession of weapons and criminal conspiracy.
Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters Commissioner of Police Oqua Etim, expressed the resolve to continue to partner with residents, towards reducing crime in the state.
Etim who was represented by the Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, enumerated five varying crime scenes with 21 suspects, while 12 were said to be at large.
He disclosed that their successes in curbing the increasing crime rate was ensured by operation hatara (a joint security outfit of the operational in the state).
According to him, Shamsudeen Salisu, Dino Abdullahi, Abdurahman Abbas and
Yushau Alhassan, were arrested for criminal conspiracy, house trespass, theft and being in possession of dangerous weapons.

He said, “formal complaint was received from one Abdulhafiz Iliyasu, of Herwagana quarters Gombe that a group of kalare boys who specialised in entering people’s houses to steal their property entered his house at about 2am and carted away his Laptop and other items.
“The next day the said complainant relayed information to the Men of Operation Hattara that the said suspects were seen in their hideouts. The men of Operation Hattara rushed to the scene and raided the said compound and arrested the suspects.”
Etim disclosed that the command also nabbed Garba Shehu, Haruna Saleh, Sulaiman Bakura, while 12 others who are at large, adding that Sabo Ibrahim, Hassan Ibrahim, Usman Babayo, and Abdulkadir Adamu, were arrested for being in possession of dangerous weapons.
Explaining further the Commissioner said suspects; Mohammed Auwal and Solomon Zephaniah were caught caught after one Adamu Uba aged 20 years old of Tumfure quarters went to Tumfure Division and reported that he took the suspects from the central round-about on his Bajaj motorcycle to evangel area Tumfure.
“On reaching their destination, one of the suspects hit him with a hammer twice on his head and as a result, he sustained a serious injury on his head. The victim called for help and they were pursued, arrested and beaten by some angry mob. A team of policemen successfully rescued both the victim and suspects and took them to the hospital for medical attention, where they were treated and discharged. The investigation is ongoing and the case will soon be charged to court,” Etim added.
