Gombe SSG commends Mercy Corps for feasibility study on canalising water to Wawa Zange
…..Says INGO is equally key to DEVAGOM
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has paid special tribute to Mercy Corps an International Non-Governmental Organisation for providing a feasibility study for a 35 kilometers canal that will convey water from Kupto in Funakaye Local Government Area to Wawa Zange grazing reserve.

Njodi lauded the organisation when he granted audience to officials of Mercy Corps led by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on livestock transformation Dr Usman Bello Abubakar.

He said the feasibility study for the canalisation of water to Wawa Zange grazing reserve by Mercy Corp is critical to both livestock and food production as the two enterprises depends on water to produce and expand the much needed value chain.
“Mercy Corps is all over the State. They take interest in whatever we do here.They are into Environment, Education, Health Women and Youths development, Water and Sanitation, there is just nothing Mercy Corps is not involved in, so we cannot thank you enough,” he said.

Njodi disclosed that the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya is committed in women and youths empowerment, hence, his numerous policies and programmes aimed at galvanising women and the youth towards economic emancipation.
The SSG assured Mercy Corps that the present administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya would continue to work in partnership with humanitarian organisation towards giving reprieve to the teeming unemployed youths in the State.
Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on livestock transformation, Abubakar, intimated the SSG that the team were in his office to Debrief him on their activities as they exit feasibility study on the provision of water to Wawa Zange grazing reserve.
Also speaking, the Senior Intervention Officer Mercy Corps Emmanuel Emeka, said the decision by the International Non governmental Organisation to provide feasibility study predicated on the fact that water plays an essential role in livestock and food production which can ultimately boost the economic condition of people within the axis in particular and the State in general.
Chief Research officer Dongrong Capital, a consulting firm for the water canal project said the firm is equally looking at the possibility of some feasibility studies that have the potentials of attracting World class investors to Wawa Zange grazing reserve.
