Gombe All Progressives Congress support groups on Thursday said since 2015 there have been flagrant abuse by power blocs, stressing that appointees were those who haven’t contributed to the party’s successes.

Speaking during a protest held at the state APC secretariat, the Convener, Hussaini Bappah, described those who got ministerial slots as Abuja politicians, adding that enough was enough.

Our correspondent reports that Amina Mohammed was appointed in 2015 as Minister of Environment, replaced with Suleiman Hassan, following her appointment as Deputy Secretary General at United Nations and in 2019 Ali Pantami was appointed as Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.

Bappah disclosed that hard work should be repaid with opportunities, restating that the governor Muhammadu Yahaya, should be given opportunity to determine those who represented the state.
He said, We are here to register our grievances over some issues we understand, enough is enough there are some people sitting somewhere sabotaging the effort and the image of the good caring governor and leader of Gombe State, we are here to say enough is enough let our APC leadership be respected let everybody that want everything in gombe state to follow due process.

“This is our government and we are the people that stood and voted for the Governor and we are the people that voted for the President-elect. We are here to show our grievances over some issues.”
Bappah continued saying, “Since 2015 this has been happening in gombe state, the person that has been appointed as a Minister did not work for it, 2019 is not someone that work for the government and he did not even show his support and did not even bring 1 broom, so for now we are calling all the stake holders and the principles concern that we are not going to condone this again.”
Also speaking, Abdulmalik Abubakar, said that the governor as the leader of the party deserved to be consulted before any appointment, adding that they expected that it would be corrected.
“We don’t foresee that our tears, cries will not be wiped away. We so much believe that what we are doing today will count and it will be respected and everybody from the National level, the stakeholders will respect the leader, Gombe state will also respect the leader of gombe state so we don’t believe that they will address it,” Abubakar said.

Also, Amtailu Saidu, lamented that appointment of those who have not sacrificed for the victory of the party would hamper development, adding “Appointing someone who has not suffered for the party will not help the party that is why many at times during election we face alot of problems, you will see somebody who has been given appointment that cannot mobilise anybody because he is not a politician. So we are calling on the President-elect, the Vice President-elect to please look into consideration when ever there’s appointment from gombe what so ever be it parastatal, be it Agency, we want due process.”
On his part, Aliyu Yusuf, urged the National leadership of APC to seek Yahaya’s input in making appointments following his knowledge on members’ participation.
“We believe Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has not been carried along in federal appointment being the party leader of the state. He knows all the people that laboured for the party in Gombe, he should be consulted,” he added.
Receiving the protesters, Publicity Secretary of the APC Moses Kyari, promised to transmit their plea to the National promising that the mistakes of Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) would not be repeated.
“Because those who suffered for the party were not compensated. The governor was not consulted in the appointment of Umar Hashidu, as Managing Director North-East Development Commission for such sensitive position,” Kyari said.
