Awujale of Ijebuland extols Tinubu’s leadership acumen, prays for his second term
Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu on Thursday visited a foremost traditional ruler the Awujale of Ijebuland Oba Sikiru Adetona Ogbagba II, where the monarch extolled his virtues, praying for continuation after 2027.
Recalling Tinubu’s efforts as a pro-democracy campaigner with National Democratic Coalition, Adetona said he was delighted with Nigeria’s choice of president.

He said, “As the father of NADECO, I’m happy that the foremost NADECO Man is now the President, I’m happy that I witnessed this day.”
While praying that Tinubu would do second term in office, Adetona said, “You will do two terms of eight years by the grace of God. Anyone who says you won’t will eat in IjebuOde and wash his hand in Epe.”
He commended Tinubu for his giant strides especially the recent subsidy removal, adding that “The first major decisions you took on subsidy and monetary policies restored the hope of both your friends and foes about the future of Nigeria.”
The Awujale added, “My joy knows no bounds because I know that you will give us the NIGERIA of our dreams, it is a must for you to bring positive change to Nigeria.
“Immediately the results were announced and you’re declared President, I told everyone around me that God has answered the prayers of Nigerians.”
Tinubu while explaining his reason for visiting the monarch said,”You told me to give you appointment that you wanted to come and see, I said ‘you, to come and see me?’ I said you want me to come and see you, I understand Sir, I am coming.”
On the impact of the respected Monarch, Tinubu recalled how he sought for the opinion of the Awujale, adding that he chose to participate following the royal blessings h received, “I asked you a sincere question here in this Palace when I came before the APC primaries, I said if I should run or not, if you said I shouldn’t, I would have stepped down, I wouldn’t have gone against my father but you said immediately that I must run, you said it is our run not my run, you said their entire kingdom is behind me,” Tinubu added.
