Bola Ahmed Tinubu Policy Outlook as it will affect you: Err on the part of caution by Mazi Dr Agodi KANU
Elections have come and gone. Battle have shifted to courts. May 29th came and went and immediate impact is starring us in the face like black and white television. Prayers alone without realistic actions can’t change the ugly situation of subsidy removal. This is indeed the real change from those that INEC sold to us against our will. It’s a case of change in policy somersault without considering all variables. Copying in examination is not allowed but if you must copy, copy from an assured student that will ensure you pass and not fail. APC campaigned with others on subsidy removal but failed to copy well by doing the first thing first. We won’t be in this mess if the stolen trillions alleged to have been used in turnaround maintenance of our moribund refineries over the years was a success. Waiting a bit for Dangote Refinery to come on stream would have also helped.
However, since they have committed the monumental economic and policy blunders, it now lies on the suppressed, oppressed and psychologically defeated citizens to chart new ways of survival. It is now time for complete physical, mental and emotional adjustments. No room for fake and imitational lifestyle. It calls for complete overhaul.
The following offer expectations and tips that could help at this auspicious time:
ADJUSTMENTS
1. Unnecessary trips or visits to families, friends and colleagues should be checked unless absolutely necessary. Use phone as an option.
2. Places you used to go with two cars with your spouse like church etc can now be adjusted and such movements made with one car.
3. Its known that SUV consumes more fuel than SEDAN. If your fleet are SUV, consider selling one or two to get SEDAN to augment.
4. Patronize shops and markets within your neighbourhood that involves a bit of trekking or biking. Trekking is recommended and allowed. Brace it.
5. If your place of worship is far from your home, kindly change location or branch or denomination close to your home that’s a walking distance.
6. There must be schools for your children not too far from your home that’s trekkable or close by that will not consume much fuel. September is around the corner. Therefore, plan to change School for them.
7. Some businesses do not require your clients coming to your office rather deals are closed online. Consider operating from your homes. A little adjust could save you stress and savings.
8. Friends that work in same vicinity may plan to have integrated plan of network transport.
9. Worship centres especially churches should look at weekdays programs and restrategise as attendance will definitely drop.
10. More than ever, get a job or change to a job closer to your home as cost of transportation may take all your salary. Likewise, think of relocating your office close to your residential area.
11. Expect increase in everything, yes everything. Therefore plan to adjust everything .
12. Businesses, homes must embrace solar energy as opposed to Gasoline to survive and make profits.
13. The cost of gas (cooking gas) is affected. What’s the way out?
EXPECTATIONS
1. Some businesses will close shop because of energy issues and many will lose means of livelihood. It will affect small scale businesses more.
2. The above will lead to increase in crime as people must eat. The crime will include but not limited to bag snatching, pickpockets, burglaries, vandalisation (car), kidnapping etc. Police and other security agencies must brace up.
3. Prostitution will increase involving single and married women. Single is to survive and married women to augment their homes.
4. Possible increase in suicides due to frustrations.
