Our correspondent reports that Luggerewo was elected Speaker after the impeachment of Sadiq Kurba, on 24th November 2020.
Speaking separately, the members said the house has tried its best, adding that the house passed historic laws for the wellbeing of Gombe residents.
On his part, Adamu Pata, representing Yalmatu Deba East said he didn’t benefit from Luggerewo’s speakership, despite his huge support.
Pata who earlier, said he won’t forgive the outgoing leadership, changed his mind and wished Luggerewo and others well.
“I didn’t benefit from Luggerewo, but I will forgive you but don’t try it again,” he said.
Also, member representing Gombe South Usman Mustapha, lamented the lack of synergy between principal officers and members, adding that some issues of the house were taken out to other quarters.
He said, “Principal officers are not working inline with members.”
Member representing Pero-Chonge Constituency Samuel Markus, urged the yet to be inaugurated seventh Assembly to be impartial, “should be fair to all staff and members,” he said.
Rambi Ayala, in his remarks said he doesn’t pray for a seventh Assembly that wouldn’t be docile but one that would be peope-oriented.
He said, “I pray for a seventh Assembly that is not docile, where interest of the institution is very key.”
Speaker Luggerewo, lauded his colleagues for the support, noting that the harmony rubbed off on their parliamentary work.
He said, “We have passed many people-oriented bills. We received 39 executive bills. We passed 142 resolutions, within the period 725 sittings which has met the requirements of the number of sittings provided by 1999 constitution.”
