Gombe State Ministry of Water Resources vows to provide potable water
….warns against illegal connection to pipelines
The Gombe State Ministry of Water Resources has notified the general
public that the ongoing rehabilitation, expansion and upgrade of the
Gombe Regional Water Supply Scheme Project is an essential service
being rendered by the Gombe State Government.
GSMWR in a statement obtained by PERISCOPE NIGERIA, warned against paying to unauthorised persons, adding that its fulfillment of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s campaign promise aimed at ensuring clean and potable water is accessible to all in the state.
The statement partly read, “The general public should endeavour to register appropriately with only
the officials of Gombe State Water Board
“Connection of distribution pipes is an essential aspect of the Gombe
Regional Water Supply Scheme and is free. Therefore, any individual
parading as agent of the Gombe State Water Board or the State Ministry of
Water and representing for any fee to be paid should be immediately
reported to the Gombe State Water Board or the Ministry of Water
Resources.”
GSMWR also warned residents to desist from illegal connection to pipelines, urging for proper registration.
“The ministry is also issuing a stern warning to those connecting water
from distribution pipelines illegally to henceforth desist from doing so and
come forward for proper registration by the State Water Board as
appropriate measure will be taken on those found connecting illegally
“The Ministry of Water Resources and the Gombe State Water Board
always discourage communities to contribute funds to any person or group
before services will be rendered to them.
“The general public should be on
the lookout of individuals collecting fees and masquerading as officials of
the State Water Board and report them to the nearest police station and the
Ministry of Water Resources
“As the laying of pipelines and rehabilitation of some existing ones is
ongoing the ministry is hereby soliciting for maximum cooperation from
the general public especially owners of buildings, fuel station and shops on
the Right of Way and pipeline route to comply and cooperate as this
investment in the water sector is for the benefit of all,” the GSMWR partly added.
