Over 41 bills, 142 resolutions passed in Gombe Sixth Assembly – Speaker
The Speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo, says no fewer than 41 bills, 142 resolutions were passed in the last four years.
Luggerewo made this disclosure during the valedictory session of the sixth Assembly on Friday.
He said the bills which were all assented and resolutions implemented by the executive, have translated into viable projects which have direct bearing on the citizens, adding that the sixth assembly has ensure good working condition, improved renumeration and trainings for the staff.
Luggerewo commended the moral and financial support of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to the sixth assembly as well as his prompt assent to the bills passed into law by the lawmakers.
While also appreciating his colleagues, the media, staff and management of the house of Assembly, the speaker called on the returning and new lawmakers to be more zealous and dedicated to the confidence reposed on them by their constituents and to the outgoing members, he wished them well in their personal and political endeavours.
During the valedictory session, the members who took turns to express their gratitude to the Almighty for sparing their lives to see the end of their tenure, appreciated their constituents for giving them the opportunity to represent them.
The outgoing member representing Pero-Chonge Markus Samuel Wina, and that of Billiri East Rambi Ibrahim Ayala, advised the returning members to see their victory as an opportunity to right their wrongs, to better the lives of their constituents and to protect the interest of the house while calling on the management of the state House of Assemble to be fair to all the staff irrespective of any affiliation.
In his remarks, the member representing Gombe south Mustapha Usman Hassan said the seventh assembly will be tough and not business as usual as they will work to protect the institution of the house.
