Again, suspected Herdsmen kill eight in Taraba

At least, eight people have been reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in Takum local government area of Taraba state.
A traditional ruler, Kwe Godson Danlami Wasa of Jenuwa Gida Nyifiye, told our correspondent on phone that the attackers numbering over 300 invaded the Jenuwa Nyifiye, a community close to the Army 93 Ada barracks in Takum and killed eight people, burnt several houses without any challenge from the security.
Chief Danlami said, the killer herdsmen invaded the Kuteb Community when most villagers retired back from their farms.
“The attackers were numbering over 300 and our local vigilant could not repelled them considering the kinds of arms they were using. This Community is less than 2km away from the 93 army Ada barrack Takum but the soldiers did not help in the situation.
“Some of the victims were burnt beyond recognition. They burnt our houses freely without any challenge from the security.
“This same killer herdsmen have earlier attacked and killed many people in Mbiya, Tamiya Faenta Communities on Sunday. The bandits have several camps within and around Takum town, operating freely without Confrontations and the communities been attacked are of Kuteb ethnic.
“Between January 2022 to date, this same bandits have killed over 200 of our people with over 3000 houses destroyed while over 10,000 of the Kuteb ethnic have been displaced,” the traditional ruler narrated.
The traditional ruler appealed to the federal government, governor Agbu Kefas, to intensify effort to end the unprovoked attacks and killings on the Kuteb people.
However, Taraba state police command through it’s spokesperson, DSP Usman Abdulahi confirmed the incident but said, only three people were killed in the attack.
