The National Directorate of Employment, on Wednesday flagged off the post orientation training for Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) for youths in Taraba.

 

Alhaji Danjuma Shehu, the directorate’s state coordinator on behalf of Director-General, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said the training was to identify value addition in the areas of agriculture and also prepare beneficiaries to key into.

 

According to Shehu, the directorate discovered that some participants did not pay attention during the training and the department has decided to designed the Post-SADTS on knowledge, attitude, skills and habit (KASH), model of Post-SADTS, three days training on the practical application of government policies and harnessing such opportunities to further create employment and promote high productivity among beneficiaries.

 

“The post training for Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS), on knowledge, attitude, skills and habit (KASH), is to inject the youth with the practical application of government policies and harness such opportunities to further create employment and promote high productivity among Nigerians.

 

“It is also to identify value addition in the areas of agriculture and prepare beneficiaries to key into. The training is to also provide agricultural skill for more food production, create employment and reduce poverty, remove grudgery from the practice of agriculture and encourage the youth to accept agriculture as a means of livelihood.

 

“It is to expand the scope of sources of funding for agricultural projects and enhance the quality of life for farmers and the society as a whole.

 

“The target groups for the training are graduates of Sustainable Agricultural Training Scheme (SADTS) and other scheme of Rural Employment Promotion (REP) who wants to expand their Agri-Enterprises or acquire knowledge to establish new ones,” Abubakar explained.

 

The coordinator also explained that the selected beneficiaries will be given a specialized 3 days training on Agri-business implementation strategies, while the recruitment of participants would cut across all categories of previous trained participants.

 

Responding, Mr Ismaila Isa, one of participants pledged to be focus during the training and urged others to demonstrate commitment in other to gain the desired knowledge.
