Gombe SSG visits state-owned transport company
….praises outfit for reinventing itself for effective service delivery
The Secretary to the Gombe State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, has commended Gombe State Transport Service popularly known as Gombe Line for reinventing itself for effective service delivery to the people.
Njodi stated this when he paid a working visit to the state-owned Transport Company to better appreciate successes and challenges bedeviling it’s operations.
The SSG noted that the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya has consistently given premium to Gombe State Transport Service through the procurement of eighty 80 brand new buses in the last four years.
He said the desire of the administration in the state is to bequeath a transport company that is not only the best but thrives on the tripod of cost effectiveness, customers satisfaction and integrity.
On the challenges confronting the service which includes shortage of manpower and administrative cost, the SSG said his office would report same to the Governor for possible action.
While eulogising the achievements so far recorded under the current management of the company, Njodi tasked the staff to make sincerity and commitment to duty their guiding principles.
Earlier speaking, the Sole Administrator of Gombe State Transport Service Usman Mamman Kamara, said under the administration of Governor Yahaya, the company has recorded tremendous success which include the procurement of 80 new buses and other sundry breakthroughs.
He however, informed the SSG that the service is in need of more permanent and pensionable staff as well as funds to effectively run its affairs especially maintenance.
Kamara said in spite of numerous challenges confronting the company, the service was able consistently pay bank facilities it obtained.
He assured that the state-owned transport company would continue to make the government and the people of the state proud as it strive to operate above board.
