Heartland FC gets N100m cash prize from Imo gov
The all conquering Heartland FC of Owerri were treated to a sumptuous banquet by the Executive Governor of Imo State Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, at the Government house Owerri.

Speaking at the dinner the Honourable Commissioner for Sports Hon Emeka Okoronkwo, congratulated the team for making Imo people proud and the Governor for his magnanimity and fervent Support to the Team, He also paid glowing tribute to the Deputy Speaker RT HON Amara Iwuanyanwu, for his immense contributions and guidance to the team.
The Deputy Speaker and Chairman House Committee on Sports Iwuanyanwu applauded the team for her passion perseverance while achieving an impeccable feat. The lawmaker appreciated the Governor for his support to the team even after she got relegated.
The Deputy Speaker went down memory lane to describe how some teams take over a decade to return to the top flight, after they capitulated but Heartland FC bounced back immediately unscathed Unhurt and Unbeaten!
The Imo FA Vice Chairman Barrister Ifeanyi Dike had kind words for the team and the Governor. He appreciated the Governor on the appointment of the Commissioner of Sports whom he described as a thorough bred administrator whose administrative dexterity has United sports Stakeholders to support Heartland FC of Owerri.
Finally, it was the turn of the Chief Host Governor Hope Uzodinma.
He eulogised the team and her technical crew for a superlative performance. He lamented the pain and agony of the Government when the club went down but he remained resolute that the team had what it took to return to winning ways.
He affirmed that the team will remain intact because” you don’t change a winning team”
The number one citizen pledged his Government’s resolve to support Heartland FC to compete not just in the elite league but on the continent of Africa and beyond.
Gov Uzodinma announced a gift of 100 million Naira for Heartland FC of Owerri in appreciation for her splendid and spectacular achievement.
Responding, The General Manager Mr Promise Nwachukwu alongside the Captain Nnaemeka Anyanwu, Sport Commissioner and the Special Adviser on Heartland Sir Emmanuel Ochiagha presented the gigantic NNL trophy as well as the Imo FA trophy.
The Governor also got a brand new Heartland FC Jersey and a scarve as the club’s number one supporter.
