Journalist’s Diary: The country’s current reality and representational stories
By Generalsugar
When I was on air almost two weeks ago, a caller complained about the representatives they had supported in the recently finished general elections in Gombe State for 2023.
Additionally, he claimed that these representatives had provided them with food, materials, and money prior to and during the elections, but that now that they need these items, most importantly food, the representatives are ignoring them and are aware of what is happening. This claim awoke the investigative journalist in me.
I had to dig, and during that time I learned that Senator Anthony Siyako Yaro, one of the three senators representing the southern Gombe zone, had distributed fertiliser at subsidised rates as a result of certain farmers coming together, deliberating to make that feasible, these people came together and met with the representative, and these fertilisers were sold for less than 14,000 naira, as against what is obtainable in the market
Naturally, one would feel or assert that He ought to have provided them at no cost.
But secondly, the crucial query is: Have they begun carrying out constituency projects? The response is no.
This just indicates that, as per usual, this unassuming gentleman’s personal funds were used to purchase the fertiliser.Patience is crucial for everyone involved.
According to my research, the senator will also give more surprises (personal) before the constituency projects start in order to lessen the impact of the suffering that all Nigerians are currently experiencing.
You must be asking why the senators from the other zones were left out of the conversation.
No need to worry, we would be updated.
