Man emerges Women Affairs Committee Chair in Gombe Assembly, as Luggerewo names 23 others
The Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewo, has named the Chairmen, Deputy Chairmen and Secretaries of the 24 standing committees of the seventh assembly.
Luggerewo made the announcement on Wednesday during plenary.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA recalls that the erstwhile Committee Chairperson Asma’u Ignanus, who was a lone-female member lost her reelection bid during the last concluded general elections.
The member representing Kaltungo West who is also the Deputy Minority leader of the house Gabriel Galadima Fushison, will head the standing committee on Women Affairs, social welfare and Special Duties as there is no female elected member in the seventh assembly.
While congratulating the leadership of the various committees, the speaker Luggerewo charged them to be committed, diligent and professional in the discharge of there legislative functions.
In an interview with newsmen shortly after the plenary, the newly appointed chairman house committee on Women Affairs, social welfare and Special Duties Fushison, said with his experience with non governmental organisations that deal with women issues, he is optimistic of defending the interest of women in the state.
