Reduce Gombe ministries, focus on job creation – Transition Management Committee urges Yahaya

The Gombe State 11-member Transition Management Committee on Monday submitted its recommendations, urging Governor Muhammadu Yahaya to reduce the current numbers of ministries.
Our correspondent reports that in 2019 Yahaya reduced the number of ministries from 27 to 21, with this call the governor is expected to merge some more others for efficiency and results.
According to the committee, there was need to concentrate on job creation, stressing the need to construct state assembly and judiciary complexes, adding that the evidence gathered and analysed by indicates that Yahaya’s administration has performed exceptionally well in many key sectors.
Daudu said, “It will suffice to mention a few of the major challenges and constraints the Committee identified the need to be addressed in the next four years. These include the reform of the civil service, improvement in the state internally generated revenue, and the need to focus on job creation.
“Accordingly, the Committee made several broad and specific recommendations, including the construction of the Three Arms Zone Complex, which houses the State Secretariat, State Assembly, and Judiciary.”
While explaining the need for urgent for implementation of contributory pension scheme in the state, adding that the reduction of ministries would form part of reforms in civil service adding, “Others are the immediate implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme, the reduction of the number of ministries as part of comprehensive reforms of the civil service, and the creation of jobs.
