Subsidy Removal: Bishop of Gombe Diocese urges FG on salary increase for Civil Servants
…..adequate protection for farmers on farmlands, as well as subsidised fertiliser

The Bishop of Gombe Diocese, Rt. Rev. Cletus Ajigben Tambari, has urged the Federal Government to urgently make an increment of the salary of Civil servants to enable them earn reasonable wage as a result of untimely removal of fuel subsidy.
This call by Tambari, seeks FG’s urgent need to provide palliative measures to cushion the biting economic hardship on the citizens as a result of the untimely and abrupt removal of fuel subsidy which has activated rising prices of goods and services to the masses.
In a communique signed by the Bishop of Gombe Diocese at the end of third Session of the eighth Synod of the diocese held at New Generation Anglican Church in Gombe, with the theme,” rebuilding the fallen walls”.
The synod called on the Federal Government to take immediate steps at handling the situation as a result of rising tension in the country and to provide adequate security for farmers and subsidised fertilisers as well as farming implements to enable farmers in the country to provide food security for the people.
The synod also congratulated Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and his Deputy, Dr Mannssah Daniel Jatau, on their reelection into office and urged them to sustain the peaceful atmosphere and confront headlong the rising incidence of armed robbery and violent attacks in the state.
The synod called on the State Government to extend developmental projects especially roads and water supply to Tumfure axis of Gombe metropolis and other local governments as well as the road linking Barunde Quarters to Yalenguruza through the big bridge where the government has put up some blocks of classrooms for easy access to people and pupils.
The synod therefore called on Nigerians to have good working relationship with each other regardless of one’s socio- religious affiliation, “to build a better nation as motivated by Nehemiah’s act of courage, boldness, love for his people and community with these qualities, the nation Nigeria will achieve unlimited success in the issues of life,” Tambari said.
Tambari according to the communique urged for the adoption of strategies employed by Nehemiah in order to confront the giant that hinder Nigerians against making socio-economic headway in the country.
