22-year-old kills father with pestle over witchcraft allegation in Gombe
The Gombe State Police command has paraded a 22-year-old Salisu Lawan, for hitting his father with pestle over allegation of witchcraft.
Parading the suspect, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, said the tragic event occurred in Panda village, in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area of the state.
Abubakar disclosed that one Mohammed Usman aged 26 years reported that Salisu Lawan aged 22 years used a pestle and hit his father Usman Bello, aged 65 years of the on his head on the allegation of witch craft.
He said, “The victim fell down unconsciously he was rushed to General Hospital Kumo where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“Case is under investigation and will soon be charged to court upon the conclusion.”
Also paraded are three other suspects, identified as Mohammed Ajuji, Usman Saidu, and Amir Mohammed, who were apprehended by the Billiri Division Patrol team in connection to a case of vandalisation and theft of a transformer.
Abubakar said the property which belongs to JOS Electricity Distribution Company was valued at N2,313,000.
While urging residents to remain vigilant Abubakar said “Commissioner of Police, CP Oqua Etim, enjoins citizens to remain vigilant and report any information that may lead to the arrest of criminal elements.”
