“All your demands are beyond the state govt” – Gombe tells workers
The Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr Daniel Manassah Jatau, has said demands made my the NLC Gombe, were beyond the state government.
He made this known following at the NLC protest organised by the state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress in Gombe.
The protesters decried the unseriousness of government towards creating a framework to cushion the hardship associated with the recent hike in the price of petrol following the subsidy removal, embarked upon by Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The NLC Chairman, Comrade Yusuf Aish Bello, issued a 6-point communique, which demanded:
1. Immediate reversal all anti poor policies of the federal government, including the recent hike of PMS
2. Immediate inauguration of the steering Committee as agreed in previous dialogue
3. Immediately provide and sustain adequate palliative measures to cushion the effect of subsidy removal
4. To put a stop to inhuman action and policies of government
5. To fix our refineries in Port Harcourt and Kaduna.
6. To release 8 months withheld salaries of University lecturers and workers.
Jatau who attended the event, alongside the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Abubakar Njodi, said, “I have gone through the letter carefully.we support your request, as a state government we will do the ones we can do, but you will agree with me, all the 6 demands here are beyond the state government.”

The State Deputy Governor, however, promised to forward the concerns to other authorities concerned and plead that they should be addressed.
He expressed optimism that a positive feedback would be given soon.
