Gov Yahaya distributes palliatives in Billiri, Akko LGAs
…..6700 persons benefit from the gesture
In continuation of distribution of palliatives across Gombe State, the state steering committee for the distribution set up by Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, was on Saturday in Billiri and Akko Local Government Areas to commence the distribution exercise at the wards and polling units levels.

Addressing the people in the two LGAs visited Governor Yahaya, said the palliative was meant to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal which has brought about untold hardship to people across the country.
Standing in for the Governor, Secretary to Government of the State Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, said the Governor rolled out the palliative measures out of compassion to alleviate the sufferings of the people especially the less privileged.

He said the flag-off of the distribution at the Local government areas followed the state government’s launch of the distribution exercise in Dadin Kowa, Yamaltu Deba Local Government and disclosed that 6700 people are expected to benefit from the two LGAs of Billiri and Akko.
He said in Billiri LGA, 2020 people will benefit, while 4680 beneficiaries will benefit in Akko Local government where each beneficiary will take home two bags of fertiliser, two bottles of pesticides and five kilograms bag of rice.

In his speech the State Palliative distribution committee chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi, who is also the Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency SEMA highlighted the mode of distribution saying the Governor has instructed the committee to set up the local government and ward distribution committees to ensure effective delivery of items to targeted beneficiaries.
He said the sub-committees were also mandated to select 10 beneficiaries per polling unit urging the beneficiaries to continue to accord the governor the needed support to achieve the desired goal.
In their separate comments, the Billiri local government caretaker chairperson Mrs Magret Bitrus, and her Akko Local government counterpart Alhaji Abubakar Usman Barambu, appreciated Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya for the gesture, saying that the palliative came at the right time as majority of people are in difficulties.
The two care taker committee chairpersons further described Governor Yahaya as a leader with a large heart always proactive in protecting and promoting the interest of people of the state.
In their addresses, Mai Tangle Alhaji Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba, and Lamido Akko Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, commended the governor for coming to the aid of the people at this critical time, saying that it will go along way in cushioning the current hardship faced by the people.
Some of the beneficiaries appreciated Yahaya for the gesture and prayed Allah to reward, guide and give him more wisdom as he steers the affairs of the state.
