Man clubs 65-year-old in Kumo, Gombe State, for appearing in his dream
One Salisu Lawan aged 22 years, from Panda, Kumo, Akko Local Government Area has been arrested for clubbing a man to death with a pestle.
The incident which happened on the 3rd of August, 2023 at about 7:20 pm where the victim, Usman Bello, 65 years was attacked while he in the mosque, after the maghrib prayers by Lawan.
The victim was then rushed to General Hospital, Kumo, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
Salisu, had earlier accused Usman Bello who was his neighbour of bewitching him and had afflicted him with a sickness, and was appearing in his dreams.
Following this incident, the Gombe State Commissioner of Police, CP Oqua Etim has called on Gombe State residents not to take laws into their hands.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Etim, noted that Nigerian law does not take into cognisance trail by ordeal, where traditionalists declare people as witches, and it strongly frowns at extra judicial killings.
The command in addition paraded 14 more suspects on counts of theft, attempted culpable homicide and rape.
