NYP lauds Tinubu over appointments, applauds Reps new committees
The Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament Dr Azeezat Yishawu, has lauded President Bola Tinubu, on his recent appointments of women and young people into his administration, describing it as an attestation of the President’s strong will and belief in the strength and capacity of women and young people in bringing workable solutions to governance.
Yishawu noted Tinubu’s drive as key in delivering the renewed hope the populace yearned for at the poll.
The Speaker charged the women and youth appointed to deliver on the mandate bestowed on their hand, “and be worthy ambassador of the larger youth constituency as President Bola Tinubu is known for putting a round peg in a round hole and they should justify their nomination by putting in their best at all time,” the Speaker partly stated in a statement obtained by PERISCOPE NIGERIA.
The NYP Speaker further said looking at Tinubu’s track record of service it was clear he has earned the special recognition, for women and youth inclusion in government while also soliciting for much more youth inclusion.
Meanwhile, Yishawu has lauded the legislative prowess of House of Representatives Speaker, Dr Tajudeen Abbas, for taking an objective interest in mentoring young people in parliament and redefining the core interest of youths in governance to meet the standard of modern politics and leadership style “as well as fostering legislative conversations around the growth and participation of Nigerian youths and women in a dimension that has never been witnessed in the country legislative history with the newly created committee on Youths in Parliament,” Yishawu’s statement added.
The NYP Speaker assured Abbas of the collaboration of teeming youths stakeholders’ to address the challenges and opportunities faced by young Nigerians, while also applauding the appointment of the youthful Olamijuwon Alao Akala, as the Chairman of the House Committee on Youth adding “which is an innovation of the current 10th National Assembly.”
The NYP Speaker described Olamijuwon as a tested and trusted young administrator cum legislator who has overtime proven his worth, “demonstrated a staunch pedigree for perfection and been a seasoned and experienced leader and thus has full capacity to nurture the future generations of seasoned and selfless legislators,” the statement partly read.
Yishawu added, “Members of the Nigerian Youth Parliament believe strongly that the days are here for Hon. Olamijuwon to continue to test the validity of his father’s political career by demonstrating the leadership acumen which is the hallmark of his father and promoting inclusiveness across the board.”
