Why Taraba Gov visited TETFund office in Abuja
In a bid to foster his desire and promise for free education in Taraba State, the governor Dr Agbu Kefas, together with the Commissioners for Education and Information, his Principal Private Secretary and the Provost College of Education Zing visited the Tertiary Education Trust Fund headquarters in Abuja on Friday, to seek additional support and partnership for institutions of Higher Education in the state.
Kefas called on TETFund to build entrepreneurship centre in the state so as to train youths in different skills. He also made other requests to the Executive Secretary Arc. Sonny Echono, during this courtesy visit which include most importantly, construction of E-libraries, Computer Based Test Centres for students to sit for examinations, among other things.
Kefas said “partnership with TETFUND is necessary if we want to have quality education in the state.” He also stated that he will personally supervise all projects undertaken by TETFUND in the state.”
At the course of their meeting, Kefas briefed the Executive Secretary on his declaration for free education and downward review of school fees for higher education.
He also noted that insecurity and other kinds of evil stem from lack of proper education but “when the youths are engaged, they will lack the time to perpetrate evil,” Kefas added.
The Executive Secretary, in his response assured the governor that his request will be considered with great urgency and treated as one of their frontline issues.
“TETFUND has been in some institutions in the state carrying out physical structures and training of staff. We will partner with Taraba State as key stakeholders,” Echono said.
