Gombe Govt assesses DSS office, over rainstorm upset
Following Monday’s rainstorm that destroyed parts of Department of State Services, Gombe State command office, the state government has commiserated with the officials over the upset done to their facility, equipment.
Our correspondent reports that some of the items damaged include the roofing sheets, ceilings, the solar power, and so on.

Conveying the Sympathy of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, and the entire people of Gombe State, on Tuesday, Secretary to the Government of the State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, alongside some Permanent Secretaries, the Executive Secretary of State Emergency Management Agency, Principal Private Secretary, to the Governor and some Directors urged officers and men of the DSS not to be deterred by the incident in the discharge of constitutional mandate.

He said, “the Ministries concern have been directed to assess the damage and report to government for timely intervention as well as the State Emergency Management Agency to provide immediate relief especially to offices mostly affected.”
While assuring government’s continued support to the service and security outfits in state, the governor also appreciated them for working tirelessly to secure the lives and property of residents of the state.

Responding, State Director of DSS, Abba Adams, appreciated the timely visit of the Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Jatau, followed by the SGS, adding that was an indication of the state government’s commitment to the security and well-being of the people.
While describing the incident as saddening, the DSS Director praised God for protecting staff, “as no life was lost,” Abba added.
