Kefas directs immediate release of July, August, September salaries to TSU

Taraba State Government on Monday, ordered that the state university be paid her owned three months salaries of July, August and September 2023.
Gov Agbu Kefas gave the order after a meeting with management of the university as well as Academic Staff Union of Universities.
According to the governor, the decision was to ensure a stable academic calendar in the university and to enable lecturers give the best that required of them for the students.
He however expressed displeasure over the strike threat by the university management, noting that addressing the outstanding salaries of lecturers in the university was not only a matter of financial responsibility but a moral obligation of educators.
“Even though, I inherited the outstanding salaries in the university but i am going to address the situation.
“Addressing the outstanding payment of the university staff is not only a matter of financial responsibility but a moral obligation of educators.
“I understand the gravity of the situation and the challenges confronting the university. I acknowledged your contributions as academic staff of the institution, and in shaping the future of the state through education.
“I wish to suggest dialogue and understanding to resolve the problems confronting the university. You the academic staff are builders of dreams and guardians of the younger generation’s future,” the governor assured.
Responding, Prof Sunday Bako, the
Vice-Chancellor of the University commended the governor for the decision which according to him was in the best interest of state academic status.
