….considers inclusion of political appointees

The Secretary to  Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, says the introduction of Biometric Attendance in Ministries, Departments and Agencies by the Inuwa Yahaya-led administration is not aimed at witch-hunting civil servants but to bring them up to speed on punctuality and commitment to duty to justify their pay by government.

He said, “As people of faith we have a responsibility to do the right thing, coming to the office as and when due must be a duty of all since we will all give to account of our deed before our creator including the fulfilment of our obligation as civil servants.”

Njodi then tasked all staff of the two offices on punctuality and commitment to their duties as government would not tolerate absenteeism from workers.

He disclosed that consultant of Biometric Attendance system would consider ways of factoring in political appointees who are also salary beneficiaries, as well as putting security measures to guard the machines against manipulation.

Presenting the machines to the SGS in the presence of all staff, the Head of the biometric attendance capture Adamu Zakari, explained how the machines would be used.

He attended to some questions by yielding useful answers during the brief ceremony.

Joshua Danmalam,
Information officer SGS’ office.
