Gombe Bulls Basketball Club has clinched a place in the second phase of the Nigeria Basketball Federation Premier in the highly competitive Savannah Conference group A.
Their recent victory over Plateau Peaks sealed their advancement after a series of hard-fought matches in the group stage.
The journey for the Gombe Bulls commenced on a challenging note as they faced a defeat in their opening game against Gboko City Chiefs from Benue State with a score of 61-83.
Undeterred, the Bulls rallied back, displaying their resilience with a narrow 62-64 win against Benie Braves, setting the stage for their impressive comeback.
Subsequently, the Bulls continued their winning streak, securing victories against the Defenders with a score of 59-48.
However, a setback loomed as they encountered a tough match against Reformers, ending in a close 64-67 loss, momentarily threatening their qualification hopes.
However, the team exhibited determination in their final group stage clash against Plateau Peaks, where they delivered a spirited performance, triumphing with a score of 57-45. This crucial win not only confirmed their berth in the next phase of the championship but also solidified their position in next year’s Premier League, marking a significant achievement for the Gombe Bulls.
Looking forward, the Gombe Bulls are set to face off against eight other formidable clubs in the upcoming Savannah Conference final round, an exciting and challenging prospect for the former Champions.
