Gombe: Gov Yahaya decries politics of bitterness, election violence

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has advocated that politics should be built on rights to choose as his administration vehemently detests politics of bitterness and election violence.
Speaking at the combined convocation ceremony on Saturday in Gombe, the Governor said they had bravely subverted election violence and opposed material based-elections.

He admonished young politicians to rebuff political extremism and apply love instead, adding that his administration has invested billions of naira in order to create rooms for research and development as a way of preparing graduates for jobs of the future in high – income fields in both local and multinational firms across the globe such as cyber – security, engineering, biochemistry, healthcare, commerce,etc.
The Governor who used the occasion to catalogue his achievements said, “our politics is built on rights to choose as we vehemently detest politics of bitterness,thus,we have bravely subverted election violence and oppose material based elections.”
“As a Government, we admonish young politicians to rebuff political extremism and apply love instead,” Yahaya added.
He enjoined young graduates never to stand aloof and watch their leaders misbehave, but locate the leaders of the time who gives hope in the perverse generation.

Also, the Chancellor, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, urged wealthy Nigerians to invest in education, saying “no nation or society would achieve meaningful progress and development without quality and relevant education,” Abubakar said.
Meanwhile, the Gombe State University combined Convocation ceremony of 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th had Adamu Ubaida Muhammad with matriculation number UG15/ EDBE/ 2002 with CGPA 4.84 in 2017/2018 session, Muhammad Rabiu Tsoho with matriculation number UG15/SCST/1018 with 4.95 in 2018/2019 session, Muhammad Abubakar Sadiq with matriculation number US16/SCCS/1116 with 4.97 in 2019/2020 session, Sunday Tehena Titus with matriculation number UG/DHRD/ASAC/2027 with 4.80 in 2021/2022 and Idris Usman with matriculation number UG17/SCZO/1110 with 4.91 in 2021/2022 Session as the best graduating students of the institution within the four seasons and the graduands were presented with their awards by distinguished personalities and University management.
