….as team beats Plateau United
The Technical Adviser of Gombe United, Mohammed Babaganaru, has ascribed his team’s recent triumph to hard work and prayer, adding that opponents see united as underdogs.
Babaganaru made this disclosure in his post-match conference held at Pantami township stadium shortly after his team had lone goal defeat against Plateau United.
According to him, “I didn’t promise anyone anything but we are going to do our possible best. My task is to keep the tactics of the team, anything outside that, we thank God for it.”
Speaking on recent triumph of the team after beating Enyimba International Football Club said, “Gradually, we are coming to that but we cannot say that for now. Most of them see us as underdogs, hearing stories of us not starting well, they think they will come here and achieve something not knowing that the players within the team are experienced. What we need now is time. Till now, we are still doing check and balance. We are trying to organise the team in the course of the league.
The team is improving week in week out, we are doing very well. I am very much impressed. They should prepare and come. A positive result by God’s grace.”
Babaganaru noted that although the encounters have been tedious, it had taken due preparation, “Glory be to God for another important three points. It was a difficult match. We played a very good side, a team that play good football for this season. You cannot prepare for a match and tell people you are going to lose, everyone is optimistic about winning. For me, we prepared to win and we won at last. It is a very good motivating factor. I don’t know the outcome of other matches but whichever way, we would be in second or third position. They are very good side, well-positioned.There’s no secret. It is a matter of hard work and prayer. The team is improving. A new team with entirely new set of players, with different attitudes and approach.”
On his part, Coach of Plateau United Mbwas Mangut, said, “We actually came here with a plan and we fought but it is unfortunate that the Gombe team has grown resistant and they didn’t give in to. Well, we have to go back and look at how we can recover points. It is a marathon and everyone will keep running round to search points away and at home.”
On his plan to recover the lost point, Mangut added, “It is a league. We have to fight everywhere, no game is easy. We have to give our all in every game and see what we can get. Not at all, it is just five games gone and a lot of games to play and I believe we can get it right somewhere. The game was a very good one and I believe the both sides gave good accounts of their selves.Sure, we had high expectations to get something here but it is unfortunate.”
