Health Insurance: NHIA threatens to punish providers in Yobe
From Habibu Idris Gimba, Damaturu
The National Health Insurance Authority has threatened to take action against any healthcare facility that fails to meet the demands of the enrolees in Yobe State.

The NHIA Yobe State acting Coordinator, Mallam Mansur Akilu, stated this during the 2023 first annual stakeholders forum meeting with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, Health care Facilities, and Health Management Organisations in Damaturu.
He said the new National Health Insurance Authority Act 2022 was meant to improve the health of all Nigerians at an affordable cost, hence every enrollee must satisfied with the service rendered by healthcare facilities.
Akilu highlighted that one of the objectives of the forum is to provide insight into the new changes and reforms including the NHIA law 2022.
He said the NHIA authority will trace any complaint by enrolees and take actions where necessary saying there is no reason whatsoever HCF will fail to provide the services to NHIA enrollees when they were paid for.
According to him, any person enroled in NHIA has the right to access healthcare in any NHIA-accredited health provider anywhere in an emergency.
The acting Coordinator said, “NHIA is committed to promoting excellence and professionalism in business process and healthcare delivery as one of its core values.”
