KGS congratulates Fady Joseph Rahme on emergence as Gibran National Committee President
The Khalil Gibran Society has congratulated Fady Joseph Rahme on his recent election as the President of the Gibran National Committee.
The announcement comes following a unanimous decision by the Committee, with Rahme elected to lead the organisation for the next four years.
In a press statement released today, Wole Adedoyin, the Director of the Khalil Gibran Society, expressed the Society’s delight at Rahme’s emergence as the new President of the Gibran National Committee.
The election, held on Sunday, August 27, marked a significant milestone as it was the first time universal ballot voting was employed, ensuring the active participation of all residents of Bcharri, the cherished hometown of the renowned author, Gibran Khalil Gibran.
Established in 1934 by decree of the Ministry of the Interior, the Gibran National Committee is dedicated to preserving and disseminating the intellectual, literary, and artistic heritage of Khalil Gibran.
This momentous occasion coincided with the centenary of Gibran’s seminal work, The Prophet, first published in 1923, further adding to the historical significance of Rahme’s election.
Fady Joseph Rahme’s victory, with 78 percent of the votes, was a triumph supported by the Lebanese Forces, triumphing over the independent list.
Rahme, whose father once held the position of Committee President, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Having returned to Lebanon in 2021 after an illustrious international career, including serving as Vice-President of Japan Tobacco International (JTI), Rahme now serves as a consultant and educator at Sciences Po, his alma mater.
Under Rahme’s leadership, the Gibran National Committee aims to propel Gebran’s legacy forward through their new initiative, titled “Towards the Second Centenary.”
The Committee’s vision focuses on honoring Gibran’s timeless contributions and ensuring that his profound influence continues to resonate globally.
The Khalil Gibran Society congratulates Fady Joseph Rahme and expresses its unwavering support for the Gibran National Committee under his esteemed guidance.
The Society eagerly anticipates the remarkable achievements and contributions that will undoubtedly characterize Rahme’s tenure as President.
