Taraba killings: Youth group begs gov Kefas to intervene

The Wurkun Youth Association of Nigeria, on Tuesday appealed to governor Agbu Kefas, to intervene in the continued attacks and killings of their people in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba, by suspected Karimjo youths.
Mr Hussaini Zuppai, state president of the association in a press conference in Jalingo, wondered why the Karimjos whom the Wurkuns have coexisted with for years, and have intermarried, have decided to choose the part of unrest against the Wurkuns in the recent time.
He however appealed to the parties involved to sheathe their sword and allow peace a chance. Just as he said, never in the history of the world, differences are resolved in the battle field.
“Both my people the (Wurkun), and Karimjo have no reason to fight each other. We have coexisted for years and have intermarried.
“Whatever that is the case, we wish to appeal to the parties involve to seize fire and allow peace a chance for the development of our area.
“We wish to appeal to governor Agbu Kefas to intervene in the situation and set up an independent commission of inquiry into the crisis, ensure the implementation of it’s findings as a sure way to lasting peace in the area.
“While we implore all stakeholders of Karinjo ethnic to call their youths to order to avoid further escalation of the crisis, we wish to also appeal to governor Kefas that in the interim, the State government should provide relied materials to the displaced people to alleviate the effects of the crisis,” the group appealed.
Our correspondent reports that, fresh crisis broke out last week in Karim-Lamido LGA of Taraba, where it was gathered that suspected Karimjo youths launched an attacked on Communities belonging to the Wurkun ethnic where lives and property were lost, and scores were displaced.
