The Nigeria Union of Journalists Borno State Council, Chairman, Dauda Iliya, has lauded Aisha Bura, over her victory as the newly elected Chairperson, National Association of Women Journalists.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that Bura who is a Civil Servant, is a member of Borno State Council. She floored her opponent Ladi Bala, to clinch the coveted seat.
According to the press statement obtained on Sunday by our correspondent which was signed by Chiroma Ali Ibrahim, Secretary of Council, Bura’s victory was an indication of her wide acceptance across the country.
The statement partly read, “On behalf of the entire working journalists in the state, we wish to felicitate with you on your emergence as the National Chairperson of the National Association of Women Journalists at the just concluded 11th national triennial delegates conference of the association.
“Your overwhelming victory was an indication of the wide acceptance by members of the Association across the country.”
While lauding Bura’s outstanding records the Council noted that it expects her to replicate the achievements.
“Your election to exalted position of National Chairperson did not come to NUJ members in Borno as a surprise considering your track records of service to NAWOJ and NUJ and the unwavering commitment you made as a Secretary of Borno State Council , Zonal Secretary and Zonal Vice President of NUJ North East is unparalleled.
“The union in Borno state urges all Nawojians across the state to buried their differences and rally round the new national leadership of the association for the progress and development of NAWOJ
“Once again congratulation and wish you a successful tenure of office,” the statement added.
