……Njodi reterates Govt commitment to sports development
The Committee set up by the Gombe State Government to investigate alleged farmlands sold out in Yame Village of Gadam District, Kwami Local Government Area has submitted its report.

Handing over the report to Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, the Chairman of the Committee and Permanent Secretary Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, Mohammed Dantata Ndus, said order four of the Executive Act signed into law made their assignment much easier as they used what the Act stipulates in arriving at their major findings and recommendations.

He said, “the committee took time to tour the affected farm lands and also interacted with farm owners and members of the Yame community.”
Ndus disclosed that the report submitted has two volumes, with volume one consisting of the main report and second consisting of pictures of the farmlands.
He expressed his committee’s appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s administration for finding them worthy of the assignment and also commended his members for working tirelessly which led to the success of their work.
On his part, Professor Njodi said the decision of government to set up the committee was due to complaints received arising from the lands in question, hence, as a responsible government it deemed it necessary to ascertain the true situation.
He said, “the committee’s assignment is the first major assignment carried out since the transfer of Chieftaincy affairs to the office of the Secretary to the State Government.”
He commended the committee for doing a thorough job assuring them that government would study the report and take appropriate measures where necessary.
It will be recalled that the state government had after the suspension of the Village Head of Yame over the alleged farmlands constituted a committee to verify actual owners, actual buyers in order to make recommendations.

In another development, Njodi has reiterated Gombe State Government’s commitment to the development of sports in the state.
Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi made the commitment when he held an interactive meeting with the management of the State Basketball team, the GOMBE BULLS in his office.
He said the idea of the interactive session was to share ideas on how best to move the state forward in the area of sports in general and Basketball in particular.
Njodi commended the management for it’s zeal and commitment and directed them to write to his office the challenges of the team and suggested possible solutions for government consideration.
He assured them of Governor Yahaya’s support promising to visit the team soon during their training session.
In their separate submissions, Ibrahim Gimba, Abdulkadir A. Kawu and the team Captain appreciated government concern to Gombe Bulls Basketball team and lauded the state government for prompt payment of player salaries and other incentives and appealed for more assistance to enable the team regain its lost glory.
