This is contained in a press statement issued to newsmen in Gombe by Shuaibu Muhammad, the Media Officer of Gombe United.

Muhammad quoted Akor to have said that the money was raised through a donation given to them as a motivation prior to their encounter with state rivals Doma United which was played on Sunday.

According to Akor, Alhaji Musa Habibu, the Senior Special Aide 1, Domestic Affairs to Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State donated the money to the players.

“The SSA gave us N300, 000 as motivation before Doma United matc and we all agreed to buy food items and give to two orphanages, one Christian and the other Muslim; thank God we were able to give them the items today.

“We are showing them love as part of our own way of helping the less privileged and also to solicite their prayers as we continue with our matches in the league.”

The captain said his colleagues were happy to carry out their gesture in the interest of the children’s wellbeing.

During the exercise, the players also took time to interact as well as motivate the young minds especially those who have ambition of playing football someday.
