Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Tuesday received newly posted Commissioner of Police Hayatu Usman, and the outgone Commissioner of Police Oqua Etim (retd.), who were on a farewell and introductory visit.

The Governor represented by the Secretary to Government of the State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, commended Etim for his enormous contributions and professionalism exhibited during his tenure as the number one crime fighter in the state.

The Governor described the conduct of the outgone CP as exemplary and worthy of emulation and therefore called on the newly posted Commissioner of Police to follow his predecessor’s footstep in order to maintain the crime fighting steam of the Nigerian Police Force Gombe State Command.

He said CP Etim performed credibly well especially with the support of the new CP who until his elevation and subsequent appointment, was Deputy Commissioner in charge of operations with the Gombe State Command.
While wishing the outgoing Commissioner fruitful life in retirement, Governor Yahaya charged the new CP to maintain the tempo by redoubling effort towards superintending the affairs of the State Command assuring of government continued support to Police.
The Governor reiterated the state government commitment to the protection of lives and property of the citizenry through the collective effort of all.

CP Etim (retd.) had while formally introducing the new Commissioner of Police said Usman is very familiar with the terrain and workings of the Command having served as Deputy Commissioner-in-charge of operations before his elevation to the rank of CP and subsequent posting.
He described CP Usman as a fine, dedicated, hard working officer who has the capacity to deliver on the job and requested the state government to extend the support he enjoyed while serving to his successor.
On his part, Usman promised commitment to duty and therefore, sought the cooperation and support of the state government and other sister security agencies to provide a watertight security and to ensure a peaceful Gombe State.
