Adamawa State Government in conjunction with Global Partnership for Education on Friday resolved to enrol out-of-school children in 50 selected schools in the state.

Speaking during an engagement with stakeholders in educational sector for enrolment drive in Yola, Dr Umar Pella, commissioner for education, said the rate of out-of-school children was alarming.
According to him, the recent survey shows that there are over 16 million children that are out school and sadly, 60 per cent of this number is from the north.
He said present administration has provided an enabling environment for quality education and made education free at the basic level.
“Therefore it is disheartening to see some children not in school, this administration is seriously pained that we still have some cases of out of school,” he said.
Michael Chinda, GPE’s Project coordinator said, the essence of the engagement was to acquaint the stakeholders with the activities of the project especially in the areas of enrollment of school children across the state.
According to him, the project will get children of school age to school through modalities that will be identified in the round.
He also called on all stakeholders to take ownership and fully participate in the drive for the enrolment and for the development of education in the state.
