Gombe State Police command on Friday narrated how an Upper Area Court Judge Ayuba Buba, alongside court registrar and others were brutalised in Degri, Balanga Local Government Area.
Narrating this while parading five suspects, the Public Relations Officer ASP Mahid Abubakar, said the team went to Balanga LGA to make inquiries in respect of farmland dispute pending before the court.
He explained that the defendant Malam Abubakar Umar, and other accomplices allegedly conspired and attacked the said judge and his team with offensive weapons.
He said, “The Judge, Registrar and one other person sustained serious injuries and were taken to the Hospital for medical attention. Later on five suspects in respect of the said crime namely; Abubakar Dunda, 50 years; Adamu Umaru Dunda, 54 years; Hamman Umaru Dunda, 42 years; Nuhu Dunda, 35 years; Alhassan Dunda, 39 years; and Tukur Dauda aged 40 years of Degri village, Balanga LGA were arrested. Umar, and other accomplices allegedly conspired and attacked the team.”
Abubakar warned the public against further attempts to breach public peace, stressing that the command under Commissioner Hayatu Usman, is committed to ensuring the protection of lives and property across the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State.
