The Sustainable Development Goals, Community Development Service of the National Youth Service Corps, Gombe State has organised inter-school spelling bee competition for senior secondary schools across the state.

The event took place on recently at Government Science Secondary School Gombe where over 44 schools participated in the quiz.

Periscope Nigeria reports that the spelling bee was the first of its kind in the state which symbolises rapid improvement in the aspect of education and the contribution of the NYSC in ensuring the realisation of qualitative education.

The quiz was very competitive and after good three rounds of participation; Kingdom Breed School emerged first position followed by Evangel College as second Position and Alheri Model School emerging third.
According to the President of the CDS, Mrs Moira Emina, it’s part of the NYSC mandate that each and every corps member belong and participate in Community Development Service.

“That’s why the Sustainable Development Goals CDS initiated and collaborated to organise the biggest spelling bee in the state which was very successful, from all indication especially when you see the participants and the invited guests,” Emina said..
Speaking, a participant Habiba Isma’il Umar, from GDSS Gandu, described the event as very objective, fair, “it serves it purpose in improving vocabulary development, reading habit and creative ability among students,” she added.
