….expresses desire to play for Nigeria
18-year-old Yusuf Abdullahi of Kano Pillars popularly known as Samage on Sunday scored five goals against host Gombe United Football Club.
Abdullahi, who addressed a post-match conference at Pantami township stadium, expressed optimism to play for the national team.
Our correspondent reports that the game ended 2-5 against Gombe United.
According to Abdullahi, the victory would spur more goals in the future, adding “I started playing this year (2023). I’m 18 years old. Seriously, I have nothing to say but to thank God.”
“I’m happy and thankful to God. I can’t explain how excited I’m. I’m hopeful that I will continue to get more goals. I will like play for Nigeria in the future,” Abdullahi added.
Also speaking, Coach of Kano Pillars Abdulahi Maikaba, expressed excitement over his team’s performance.
He said, “It’s an exciting result very nice result and one of the brilliant talent that is coming up scored all the five goals in Nigerian football. It’s a wonderful day for Kano Pillars.”
On the implication of the result, “the implication is that we can work for whatever we want in this league because it’s to say we are down. With this type of result if we can do two more of it can get to the top.”
On the performance of the player with five goals, he added “he has been missing goals from the beginning not the season to today I have been telling him that first goal is the key that will motivate him to score more and I’m happy the first goal motivated him to score more. This boy is supposed to be in any of the national team especially under 20 national team.”
Meanwhile, the Technical Adviser of Gombe United Football Club Mohammed Babaganaru, declined comment on his boys performance.
