The China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council, has expressed its readiness to support Kano Agricultural business communities, with an Investment initiative to boost agro- production and exportation.
The Chinese delegation on Thursday gave the assurance at the end of a one-day roundtable B2B meeting, with eminent business leaders from Kano held at the City Hall Complex, Kano.
Wu Lianbin, the director, import business, who spoke on behalf of the delegation said: “We are here today, with Mr Haruna Kabir Muhammad to collaborate, with Kano people on how to move their agricultural products and export them from Kano to china, we thought the need of the co-oporation to improve the productivity and quality here so that the producers and farmers will get a better pay back for their products. We will also support them to make more sales to the Chinese market and other markets as well.”
“We will be supporting the market, with, about 166b Rmb per year of the Chinese local currency, which is about $20 billion. For the investment, we are still holding talks, with Mr Haruna on how to reach a compromise,” Lianbin added.
Highlighting the support and volume of trade Chinese community will provide Nigeria, the representative of the delegation, said “We will be supporting the market with about 166b Rmb per year of the Chinese local currency, which is around $20 billion US dollars. “We chose Kano because we know the level at which Kano products have quality and productivity for agricultural products like soya beans and other grain products”
The convener of the event Mr Haruna Kabir Muhammad while addressing news men on the importance of the bi-lateral relationship said that.
“The intention of the Chinese visitors generally is to boast the working condition with the third world countries, they don’t want it to be just one way, instead a double lane.
“Meaning that you can carry your goods to china and sell them and at the same time buy from them when returning.
“The coming of the Chinese team to Nigeria has expanded their level of thinking and how they see us, if initially they think we have only thousand population of business communities, now they know we have millions of that and that will give the confidence to partner with Africa and kano at large.
“As you all know that initially those that are use to taking their products to china are only getting peanuts in return but with this discussion today, they now know where and how to go about their trades when they get to china and will as well get the real worth of their products.”
