……nominated across 10 other categories for its efforts
The Gombe State Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources Muhammed Saidu Fawu, alongside members of the state Steering/Technical Committee attended a one-day stakeholders’ engagement which took place at the Continental Hotel in Abuja.

Amos Pononyamba Fabulous, the Ministry’s Information Officer reports that the event had in attendance the Ministers of Environment, Water Resources & Sanitation and Agriculture and Food Security.

Other notable delegates from Gombe include Commissioner Ministry of Agriculture, livestock and Cooperative, Mr Barnabas Malle, also Permanent Secretaries of the two ministries Dr Ibrahim Yakubu of Ministry of Agriculture and Danladi Adamu of Water Resources, Director Water Resources and Gombe ACRESAL Project Coordinator Sani Jauro, were all in attendance.

Hallmark of the event was the presentation of awards and Gombe State ACReSAL was said to have performed excellently as it was declared overall best among states, while also clinching the Runner up position in more than ten different categories which include Project Implementation, Project Disbursement,Infrastructure and Engineering and Procurement Competence, Political Will, Community Driven, Policy Support, work flow turnaround Responsiveness and Transparency and Integrity categories.

Gombe ACReSAL also clinched the first Runner up in Safeguard and Social procedures in Environment, GIS Technology and Communications category.
You will recall that Gombe state has been referenced by the World Bank as one of the states to fulfill its obligations to key in on the implementation of the World Bank Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes project in Nigeria due to the Commitment of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya who has always ensured that the state pays its counterpart fund as at when due to enjoy full implementation of the ACReSAL Project in the state.
